Should You Hire an Attorney for Your Injury Claim?

Personal injury laws are designed not to punish the defendant, but to ensure that injury victims receive compensation that can make up for their reduced quality of life. Unfortunately, the modern legal system is incredibly complex, and many Sarasota injury victims are unprepared and unsuccessful in their efforts to gain compensation without an attorney.

Experience Matters in Injury Lawsuits

The physical and financial damages of a serious injury can have a lifetime of consequences for the victim and their family. It’s not uncommon for personal injury victims to suffer from a significant loss of income, reduced earning capacity, substantial long-term medical expenses and continued physical pain, all resulting in a reduced quality of life for everyone involved.

In serious personal injury cases, experience as a trial attorney is critically important. The skill, experience, financial resources and record of successful jury trial verdicts of the personal injury lawyer you choose, can greatly impact the outcome of your case and the amount of compensation that you receive.

Why Choose Our Lawyers?

Finding justice in today’s legal system can be frustrating and not all personal injury firms are created equal. The hiring of an injury lawyer is an important decision that should not be based completely upon television and radio advertisements.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS THINK

I’ve had a great experience working with Charlie and his team. Charlie was an obvious first choice for me for a personal injury attorney. I feel they have been very efficient, very effective, and have gone above and beyond to get me compensation for the type of accident I was in and the injuries I incurred. They have kept me in the loop with every detail, everything that’s been going on. I’ve always been up to date.

Are a Claim and a Lawsuit the Same Thing?

It is common for injury victims to use the terms claim and lawsuit interchangeably. In truth, they are very different processes, each with their own set of hurdles to cross. If you’ve been injured and aren’t sure if a claim or lawsuit is the best option for your set of circumstances, please contact our Sarasota personal injury lawyers today. We offer free consultations to discuss the details of your case.

Injury Claim
Injured victims file claims with the at-fault party’s insurance company, as well as their own. The purpose of a claim is to seek compensation for the victim’s financial losses, related to their physical injuries, lost wages and property damage. During the claim process, there are no formal court proceedings or judges involved. If a fair settlement can’t be reached, the injury victim may need to file a lawsuit to seek fair compensation.
Injury Lawsuit
Unlike a claim, filing a lawsuit is the formal process to seek compensation for damages. The lawsuit may be filed against the negligent at-fault party or their insurance company, sometimes both. In many cases, the at-fault party or their insurance company will make significant attempts to settle the lawsuit before the case goes to court. If a fair settlement can’t be reached, the case will go to trial with the outcome being decided by a jury.
